MOIRA operates a number of peer support groups. Some groups cater to specific needs, for example providing an environment where fathers can share their experiences and feelings around having a child living with disability, or families that are seeking to understand more about autism.
Parents meet on a regular basis to discuss the supports they might need, and to hear from guest speakers on a range of topics. This provides parents or carers of a child with disability a support network of people in a similar situation.
As well as support groups, we offer information sharing, parenting programs, and forums on a range of topics designed to help families who have a child with a disability.
To be eligible for this program, individuals must be a parent of a child living with a disability and live in the southern regions of Melbourne.
