Following a comprehensive internal review and assessment of the financial and commercial viability of the Recreation Program, MOIRA’s board has made the decision that the Recreation Program will be closed and will not make the transition to the NDIS.
The decision to cease the provision of recreational services is effective as of 30 April 2019.
MOIRA would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the children, parents and carers that have engaged with our recreation program and made it such a rewarding and special service to be a part of. We understand the impact the decision may have on families and appreciate that alternative holiday or weekend services may need to be coordinated. Online disability service directories including ‘Clickability’ (www.clickability.com.au) offer an excellent resource that we hope may assist you to source a suitable alternative.
MOIRA’s vision for all people to lead rewarding lives, and commitment to supporting the disability community remains unchanged. Parent and carer support initiatives will not be affected by this decision and will continue. Additional opportunities to provide support for families and carers are also currently in development and due to be announced within the next several months.
If you currently engage with other MOIRA services please be assured that service delivery will continue uninterrupted. This announcement relates to MOIRA’s Recreation Program only
