This week, MOIRA has been busy celebrating International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) – a day to celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability.
To share in the celebrations with the individuals we work alongside, MOIRA decided to run a ‘Share your Community’ contest. The contest coincided with this year’s IDPWD theme, ‘promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership,’ and asked individuals to share how they participate and engage with their community through the creation of an original photograph, story, poem or artwork. Everyone who entered went in the running to win a Visa gift- $200 for the winner and $100 for the three runners up.
We received many creative, engaging entries and loved seeing how our participants engaged with their community. Our winner and runners up all submitted amazing photos and artwork, which can be viewed below.
‘My name is Morgan. [Two days a week] I work at Bunnings and as you can see in my picture because of the NDIS I now have a standing wheelchair. I can reach shelving that I thought I would never be able to do. The standing wheelchair has changed my life in more ways than one.’
Runners Up: Laurel, Dorotea and Nicky
Congratulations to our well-deserved winner and runners up.
We hope everyone had as much fun celebrating International Day of People with Disability as we did.
