Family Counselling

Counselling can assist family members to harness strengths and existing resources. It can also help to identify the communication and behaviour patterns which may contribute to problems.

Our family therapists work through issues relating to:

  • loss and grief
  • chronic illness and disability
  • stress on relationships, including parenting
  • separation and divorce
  • young people and children’s emotional and behavioural responses
  • trauma and abuse
  • the challenges of day-to-day living

How does family counselling work?

Families and/or individuals may meet with a MOIRA counsellor to work together towards understanding and change. Our qualified family therapists have expertise and experience both in disability and working with young people. Referrals may be made by individuals or agencies.

The number of sessions is negotiated with the counsellor, and fees are available on application.
