Housing and Accommodation

We provide a range of crisis accommodation and transitional accommodation options. This is a funded service which, combined with support, helps young people to begin to address issues that may have contributed to their situation, such as homelessness, unemployment, addiction and social behavioural issues.

MOIRA helps young people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness through accommodation under the Transitional Housing Manager (THMs) model with capacity for up to 50 people. Our transitional support workers also provide and manage safe mid-term accommodation for young people.

Our transitional housing service works towards re-establishing secure housing as soon as possible and supporting young people to live independently in line with their individual life goals.

How does it work?

Each young person is allocated a Housing Worker from MOIRA, and together the young person and the worker will establish a case plan. This includes identifying issues which may be preventing the young person from achieving his or her goals, such as mental illness, drug and alcohol issues or family breakdown. Together, the young person and their MOIRA Housing Worker develop strategies to address these issues.

Ultimately, by building upon their strengths and overcoming obstacles, the young person is able to focus on his or her individual goals, which might be private rental accommodation, shared accommodation or family reunion.

Can we help you?

Transitional housing operates on short to medium-term tenancies, usually for a minimum period of three months up to 12 to 18 months.

We provide three short-term emergency houses, each with a dedicated crisis support worker, for young people in immediate crisis. Case plans are developed to assist each young person to regain permanent residence
